It's about stepping outside of your rping box for just a moment.
Here there will be posts which prompt writers to respond. It will involve sometimes stepping away from their character, point of view or familiar setting to respond to a prompt. A prompt could be (in short, sweet terms)...
"There is an old woman who has been mending clothes for fifty years. A young man is about to enter her shop. He looks identical to the son she had who died forty years ago. She is convinced he is her son. Play the young man about to enter the shop."
The outcome is not predetermined. You could decide as the writer responding that the young man is her son and that he was caught in some sort of enchantment.. time vortex... whatever. It could be that you decide that he is actually her grandson. Or he is a complete stranger, who decides to pretend to be her son because the old lady is about to croak and he could stand to inherit her shop and whatever money she has. Again, you are only prompted with the beginning idea and as the writer it is your challenge to respond to it.
Some of the prompts will involve or allow for the involvement of your character. Others, like the one above, will ask that you abandon your character to adopt the one given to you.
Ultimately, it is meant to be a writing challenge to see what you will do with it. You may propose your own writing prompts if you wish or respond to any of the ones made.
Hope everyone enjoys.
