Highstar Haven is a Vampire City run on a magic catalyst that blankets the city in darkness.
The knowledge of the magic and how it remains is semi-secret knowledge. There are rumors about it, but only some of the population know; those within the secret society to protect vampires and the city
Rules:
1. No. You cannot have your individual character come in and solve all the magic issues. Anything to do with the running of the city must be run by a GM.
2. Speak to the other players about storylines. Be respectful of theirs. They will be respectful of yours.
3. Do not kill a character without express permission from the player. NPC's you create can be killed when you want them dead. If somebody else created the NPC please speak with them. They may need them for storyline purposes.
The notes above come from Rissa and V, the owners of the Morze discord channel and owners of the storyline.
With that being said... Hi!! I rp William, a book keeper for the city and someone licensed to give more specifics on the City via the server bosses. As you might have guessed from the heavy hinting, this city has something other going on with it which motivates characters and is supposed to give you rping opportunities.
Highstar Haven is a vampire city engulfed in a constant night which its citizens, unbeknownst to outsiders, uphold by making monthly and annual sacrifices. They go to areas outside the city, attempting to be discreet so as not to incite a war. These "sacrifices" can come from NPCs (you can even rp an NPC if you feel like it) or... you can volunteer your character to be one of the targets (or bounty hunters of said targets).
This is meant to be an ongoing tension, not an SL resolved in one week. This is how the town operates and lives and how we, as players, have some dramas to write.
Who knows about Highstar Haven's sacrifices? Only those involved in the city council.
The everyday vampire citizen does not and certainly no one outside the government so... please refrain from your character magically knowing without some DM conversation or acceptable "AHA!" moments in play as stated above.
What are the Sacrifices?
The sacrifices are based on the current interpretation of what different full moons of the month are called. Here's a pic.
Here is the interpretation of what the sacrifices are, and how they may or may not apply to your character
Wolf Moon – January (this is the month a wolf is killed as a sacrifice)
Snow Moon – February (snow meaning to mislead or charm someone, the sacrifice is a sliver of the tongue of a con artist)
Worm Moon – March (a worm being ground-bound, the thumb of a gardener is needed)
Pink Moon – April (carnations being the pink flower for death, a death crown of carnations before a funeral is completed is needed)
Flower Moon – May (flower also meaning virginity, a lock of a virgin's hair is needed)
Strawberry Moon – June (a heart shaped symbol of love, an engagement ring is needed, one prior to a character's wedding)
Buck Moon – July (as a symbol of spiritual authority, any spiritual item, staff, cross, etc, from a place of worship is needed)
Sturgeon Moon – August (Sturgeon is the longest living fresh water fish-- the fingernail clippings of the eldest member of a town is needed)
Full Corn Moon (Harvest) – September (Corn as a symbol of rebirth and fertility-- the used bed sheets of lovers trying to have a child are needed)
Harvest Moon – October (A time where benefits are reaped-- a wealthy man must be made poor by taking whatever it is he has that makes him wealthy)
Hunter's Moon (Harvest) – October (aka the Blood Moon, a time to learn from previous lessons. The skull of someone dead no more than five years must be brought)
Beaver Moon – November (The frost moon, the morning moon a time when beavers build dams. An artifact from a long standing feud is needed)
Cold Moon – December (brings light in order for something to be acknowledged-- a vampire gives up a fang)
How can I be involved in this SL?
Easy, you can rp as just a civilian in town, doing what you want and not being super involved in the sacrifices or any of that. That's totally cool and this SL is not a requirement to play your vampire here. But let's say you do want a piece of this fine, fine rp action.
1) Rp a victim of any of those crimes. I will, or another rper serving the vampire council, will be charged with the harassment rp. For this I would DM the bosses, letting them know you have an interest and if one of the sacrifices in particular is your interest.
2) Rp a bounty hunter who does the crimes. I will, or another rper serving the vampire council, will work with you to play it out. We can do NPCs or real characters. But if you have had a bounty hunter who just doesn't get bounties? This is your place. If you have a vampire who needs a reason for some wicked deedery? Look no further.
3) Rp just a council member, someone who is aware, concerned, and dealing with maintaining the spell.
4) Rp some member of the town, being a vampire, enjoying the always-dark-in-Philadelphia life.
5) Rp a detective who thinks something weird is up with Highstar Haven
6) Rp a vampire who doesn't like that a detective/busy body thinks something is weird with Highstar Haven
7) Rp someone who was already a victim of said sacrifices, just from some different year, who comes to the town looking for answers
8) Etc. Etc.
Who do I contact about doing the thing in the SL? The bosses, they'll let you know if your idea floats, etc. Also, make a vampy profile so we can see your pretty face. Maybe even throw in a few details about what they do in the vamp city so we can keep shit straight.
